If you have been waiting for Microsoft to release an LTE version of its Surface Go, you'll be happy to know you can pre-order the hybrid now.

The company plans to officially release the Surface Go on 20 November in the US and Canada, with the base model starting at $679 for consumers. It features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The Surface Go with LTE will come to the UK and 20 other markets on 22 November.

The Go is a full Windows 10 laptop-tablet hybrid, albeit in Windows 10 S Mode. It's affordable, starting at £379 ($399), but if you want a full-fat experience, then you'll need to buy the £100 Type Cover (available in black, platinum, burgundy or blue) and £100 Surface Pen separately. That takes the entry cost to $599/£579. If you want the LTE model with all the extras, you need $879/£879.

That means it's potentially more expensive than an iPad with Apple Pencil and a Bluetooth keyboard (not iPad Pro).

Still, it is a super portable 2-in-1 that's great as a second go-anywhere machine. Unfortunately, in our review, we found that the battery life isn't great, and once you've added the accessories, it's not cheap. But, for a lightweight machine, there's little else to take it on. It's a great machine for doing bits and pieces on the go: Emailing, taking notes in a meeting, and watching a bit of iPlayer on the train.

At launch, according to ZDNet, support for cellular providers includes AT&T, Verizon, DoCoMo, SoftBank, KDDI, EE UK, Vodafone UK, and Sprint.
