Everyone seems to want a slice of the low-priced tablet pie, with Carphone Warehouse now also joining Argos in the under £100 party.

With the Tesco Hudl sitting at £119 (unless you spend your Clubcard vouchers on it), the Argos MyTablet at £99 and Carphone Warehouse's Avoca at £49, we've thrown them into a royal rumble to see what the differences are to help you decide where you should part with your few hard-earned pennies.

The Hudl wins on display

All three devices come with a 7-inch display but it is the Tesco Hudl which comes out on top in terms of resolution, but bear in mind it is more than double the price of the Avoca at the moment if paying in cash.

Tesco's Hudl has a 1440 x 900 pixel resolution giving it a resonable pixel density of 242ppi, compared to Argos's MyTablet with a resolution of 1024 x 600 and a 169ppi. The Carphone Warehouse Avoca resides at the bottom of the bargain bucket with a resolution of 800 x 480 and a pixel density of 133ppi.

The result will be that the display will be sharper with more detailed images on the Hudl compared to both the MyTablet and Avoca. At 7-inches, the differences in quality is going to be obvious.

Better camera on the Hudl

The Hudl comes with a 3-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel fixed focus front camera, compared to the MyTablet's 2-megapixel rear camera and 0.3-megapixel front camera. But the Avoca takes it a step down and features only a front camera, and a 0.3-megapixel one at that.

We weren't hugely impressed by either the Hudl or MyTablet cameras when we played with them, so we expect similar results from the Avoca. It's strictly video calling on the Avoca.

Better battery and memory on the Hudl

As you would expect from the price, the Hudl is also a winner when it comes to battery life and storage options, however the Avoca also does well here. The Hudl has a battery life of 9 hours video playback compared to the MyTablet at 5 hours, which is below average for a tablet of this size.

The Avoca has an 8-hour maximum life, according to Carphone Warehouse, so in this case it sits closer to the Hudl than the MyTablet, and for under half the price.

In terms of storage, the Hudl has the best internal storage at 16GB compared to the MyTablet and Avoca which both come in 8GB models. However, all three have microSD support up to 32GB so you will be able to carry more movies or music with you.

Hudl comes out on top for connectivity and speed

The Hudl has a quad-core 1.5GHz processor compared to the MyTablet's dual-core 1.6GHz processor, meaning both will be faster than the 1GHz chip in the Avoca, but the Hudl will offer the best experience when performing every day tasks.

With Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS, the Hudl also wins for connectivity as the MyTablet only sports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and the Avoca only has Wi-Fi support.

Both the Hudl and MyTablet run on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, while the Avoca runs on Android 4.2 but you'll get a very similar user interface.

Conclusion

All three devices are cheap when it comes to 7-inch tablets, but the Tesco Hudl is the best value for money in terms of specs. There's a slight sense of "you get what you pay for" with these low-priced tablets. The Tesco Hudl is the clear choice for us, because it delivers resonable specs and performance, but also marries that with a nice design and good build quality.
