Archos has launched the 97b Titanium Android tablet at Dixons for a price of £199. The device uses a 1.6GHz dual-core processor and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

The 97b features a 9.7-inch 2048 x 1536 IPS capacitive touch screen and is put together using aluminium and white glossy plastic. On the front is a VGA resolution webcam, with a 2-megapixel snapper on the back. All the usual sensors and speakers are also included.

Interestingly the tablet has a mini HDMI connection and, perhaps best of all, features a microSDXC slot, so you can boost internal memory from the stock 8GB up to 64GB.

Archos is keen to emphasise its own Media Centre apps which allow you to use uPnP to stream media from your Mac or PC to the tablet. Think of them a bit like AirPlay but for Android. The tablet is available now from the Dixons website. While it might lack power compared to the rest of the Android Nexus competition, that super-high screen resolution definitely makes it worth a look.
