Portuguese touch screen specialist Displax has announced the arrival of two new exciting products - the Displax Oqtopus and the Displax Overlay Multitouch.
The Oqtopus is a portable, all-in-one, multi-touch table that is designed to go hand in hand with Windows 7.
You can sit and play with it with three of your buddies as it is capable of recognising four independent inputs on a 42-inch screen. Don't worry if you've got OCD or hygiene issues, the Oqtopus can recognise a stylus or even a gloved finger.
The table comes with a black and white finish, and wouldn't look out of place on the Discovery One space ship from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
Displax's Overlay Multitouch is a customisable overlay that sits on your LCD or Plasma TV and turns it into a touchscreen-capable display. You can get it to fit screens from 32 - 108 inches.
"As an expert on interactive technologies, many customers have approached us in search for a product that is portable, easy to install, inexpensive, and can handle a limited amount of touches", explained Miguel Fonseca, chief business officer of Displax.
"While we are finalising our versatile, powerful Displax Multitouch Technology to be available to the market soon, we have decided to cooperate with strong Research & Development partners to be able to immediately offer our customers compelling products that perfectly match their requirements".
The Displax Oqtopus is available now, priced from 4500 euros to 6500 euros depending on whether you get a PC and/or LCD screen fitted to it, and the Overlay Multitouch, which is also available now, costs between 1300 euros and 6000 euros depending on the size.
We spoke to Miguel Fonseca back in February. Check out what he told us.
