Colin Furze is a modern-day midlands da Vinci, if Leonardo rode a BMX and had a welding superpower. The result of this YouTube star's creations are some seriously fun, probably unsafe and completely awesome looking inventions.
From a bicycle that hurtles along using a pulse jet to magnetic shoes that let him walk on the ceiling, no challenge appears too tough for Colin. Then there's the ejector bed which can start your day abruptly, followed by warm toes thanks to flame heated slippers. He's even built a bunker in his garden.
Yup, he dug up his garden, built an entire room with a pumped air system, power and water. You know, just in case Fallout 4 turns out to be a premonition of our real future. That and it makes for an excellent man cave.
There's an X-Men specialist selection of creations including Pyro flame-throwing and working Wolverine style claws.
We've put together a gallery of some of his weird and wonderful creations and highly recommend checking out his YouTube channel and subscribing to see even more in future.
Centrifugal turkey cooking machine
This beauty can cook a turkey in an hour. Skewer the bird and it'll rotate, really fast, as juices from the bottom are heated and fired out through the tube into the bird. There's even room for veggies so you can do an entire meal in this beast.
What an awesome looking oven with a cool steampunk vibe. We love Colin's creations and how they're just much than just things of beauty.
The insides of the centrifugal turkey cooking machine
If you're not convinced by how awesome the turkey cooker is, here's an internal view. Amazingly it looks like just a massive metal box, but there's much more to it than that.
Flame heated super slippers
In perhaps the least sensible use of gas canisters, Colin Furze created these gas-powered heated slippers to warm the user's toes. Ideal for warming your feet anytime you like and "with only the smallest chance of self-combustion".
Toasty toes
An underside shot of the slippers shows how the heating process works. As you can see a tube runs under the hotplate with the slipper above, allowing flames to create a toasty toe or two.
Wolverine-style claws
In 2014, Colin created the first-ever fully automatic Wolverine claws that were designed to deploy and retract automatically. These bad boys boast 12-inch stainless steel claws that are nearly as awesome as the real thing sported by the clawed superhero.
Of course, they aren't made of adamantium, but you can't have it all.
Wolverine-style claws in action
Like many of the other inventions crafted by Colin, the claws are fully functioning and fantastic too. Sure, they don't retract under the skin and you probably shouldn't take them out in public, but they make for an awesome video.
Removable claws
The raw Wolverine claws can also be seen when not in use and in all their magnificence. A flick of the arm and they're out and ready for carving dinner.
Mega magnetic shoes
These magnetic shoes harness microwave cores and allow the wearer to walk on a metal ceiling upside down. Colin has done it.
How the shoes work
One of the best parts of Colin's videos is seeing the effort that goes into creating his contraptions. This includes video insights into how things are made with all the various steps, which includes, in this case, deconstructing a microwave to use the core that then creates all that magnetic pull.
Steampunk drawing board
Even something as simple as a whiteboard is pretty special in Colin Furze's world. You can see the calculations that go into his ideas here surrounded by weird and wonderful constructions created nearby.
What lies beneath
See the variation in grass colour in Colin's garden? That's a bunker underground which he built. Shall we go inside?
A journey inside
A normal shed with a rug, right? As with many things, there's much more to this than meets the eye.
A hidden entrance
Under the innocuous rug lies the entrance to the bunker.
Down into the belly of the beast
Clambering down the ladder, Colin leads us into the depths of his bunker and into the belly of the beast.
Post-apocalyptic vibe
A short welcome hallway before the main event. Even the short tunnel has a distinct post-apocalyptic vibe to it.
A comfy bunker
Welcome to the bunker built to withstand the zombie apocalypse. We love that it's also doubling nicely as a fairly awesome man cave.
The ejector bed
The ejector bed is another brilliant if slightly bonkers creation. A rude but effective way to be awoken in the morning, this literally fires you out of bed. We suppose it's a good way to ensure you don't sleep through the apolocalypse.
The firework launcher
At first glance, this monster gracing the walls of the bunker looks like a pretty fearsome flamethrower. It's actually much cooler than that, it's a firework launcher. As you can imagine, a lot of these things should come with a warning to not try them at home.
Jet heated toilet paper dispenser
The toilet roll warmer. For a toasty derrière after a nice sit. This thing, like many of Colin's creations, is jet-powered.
The toast knife
Ever considered the convenience of being able to make toast by simply cutting bread with a super heated knife? Now you can thanks to another of Colin's constructions.
The soup vacuum
Vacuum cleaners are a bit boring aren't they? Only good for cleaning your house and keeping things looking pristine. Well, nothing is that simple in Colin's world. No, this is a vacuum that makes soup. Simple suck up ingredients and this will do the rest.
Inside the soup machine
An inside view of the soup maker. This machine is designed to blend and heat the soup for a tasty finish.
A microwave that freezes
Another brilliant construction that we wish was a reality. This one is a microwave that freezes instead of cooks. It uses CO2 and is really nifty. We wish it was a reality in every home. Why this hasn't been done before for a quick cold beer we'll never know.
The assassin's blade
Recognise this? It's a real-life version of the secret blade that pops from your character's wrist in Assassin's Creed. Another bladed weapon created by the master.
Grappling gun
A rope grappling gun anyone? As if the hidden blade wasn't enough, Colin also made the rope grappling gun too, so he could make a hasty escape presumably.
The ice bike
In 2014, Colin made a bike with tyres that were temporary, because they were made of ice. Just make sure you're riding somewhere really cold and are prepared for a bumpy ride.
Bunker weaponry
If you're wondering Colin keeps his Wolverine claws on the bunker walls, ready for action. They're not only useful in the event of an outbreak of zombies, but also make for some fairly awesome decorations.
The tea machine
Tea To Me is one of Colin's earliest creations. A flip of the switch will move a cup of tea those vital few inches closer to be lifted and enjoyed. Inspired. This machine is specifically designed for clumsy people and simply helps move your tea a few inches to avoid accidentally knocking it over.
Pulse jet engine
Colin's first pulse jet engine. How they've grown since...If you haven't gathered by now, Colin has a bit of a thing for jet engines and attaching them to various things to make them faster. This is one of the first but certainly not the last.
The jet-engined bicycle
A pulse jet engine strapped to the back of a Raleigh bicycle. Needless to say, this made for an amazing video.
One mad bike
One for the clowns out there.
Homemade Hulkbuster
One of Colin's more recent creations includes this 3.2-metre high monster. A homemade Hulkbuster from Avengers Infinity War crafted exclusively using parts purchased on eBay. It moves, smashes things and even shoots fire. It is one heck of a machine. We wonder what his neighbours must think about it though.
Giant Star Wars AT-ACT
The Hulkbuster wasn't the only thing Colin created in with just parts purchased via eBay. He also made an enormous AT-ACT playhouse which was rather superbly crafted by simply upscaling a Star Wars toy. The head even moves. Would you need planning permission for this though?
These are just a handful of Colin's awesome inventions. We'd highly recommend following him to see even more.
