Creative has launched the "top-of-the-line" GigaWorks T40 2.0 stereo speaker system.

With the aim to give digital music listeners the same quality they would get from a traditional hi-fi, the new system claims to offer high-quality audio from your MP3 player or PC.

Inside each satellite, there's two midrange drivers with woven glass fibre cones for warmth and stability, along with a dedicated high-end tweeter with a cloth dome for crystal clarity.

Arranged in MTM (midrange-tweeter-midrange) configuration for precision and balance, the BasXPort technology apparently gives strong, dynamic bass that's in proportion to the high and mid-range output.

The resulting sound profile, Creative claims is rich, detailed and realistic, and achieved without the use of a subwoofer.

The GigaWorks T40 system has front-mounted controls for volume, bass and treble. iPod users can purchase a separate iPod docking unit which comes with a remote control.
