Bang & Olufsen has launched the new BeoTime, describing it as an alarm clock that is "equal parts stylish and functional".

As well as a clock, the BeoTime doubles as a control for Bang & Olufsen systems in the home.

It has a built-in sleep timer which can switch all Bang & Olufsen equipment in the room to standby after a certain time as well as offering basic operation of such devices.

With a built-in tilt sensor, the display information and button functions change orientation in accordance with how BeoTime is held.

The device's unusual design is said to be inspired by Mozart's The Magic Flute with its anodised polished aluminium tube and "trumpet-shaped" button that's used for the alarm functions.

Battery-powered, for wall-mounting BeoTime rests in an "almost invisible" magnetic wall bracket.

The BeoTime will be available at all Bang & Olufsen showrooms from August 2009 with a suggested price of $375.
