A new pocketable portable speaker has launched in the US that promises to be "The first pocket-sized music system good enough for audio purists".

Dubbed foxL, it measures only 5.6-inches wide x 2.2-inches deep x 1.4-inches high.

foxL’s makers, soundmatters international, say the performance is thanks to two 1-inch Linear Magnetic Drive Twoofers tuned to 100Hz.

The technology used by the company supposedly enhances mid-range vocal performance and extended bass well beyond other similarly sized speakers it says.

Available with and without Bluetooth connectivity the speakers will also include an internal noise-cancelling mic so you can use it as a handsfree speaker for your mobile phone.

The 5-hour battery powered foxL will be available in September in the US costing around $249 and $199 for the Bluetooth and non-Bluetooth models, respectively.

Pocket-lint has been told that the foxL will be coming to the UK and will cost around £149.
