Soulra has revealed its latest Bluetooth speaker that doubles as a mobile charger and is powered by the sun.

As the name suggests the Rugged Rukus is built for the outdoors with IPX-4 splash proofing and the ability to withstand a one metre fall. The solar panel powers the speaker but an internal battery, when fully juiced, will give eight hours of playback in the dark.

Thanks to a USB port on the Rugged Rukus mobile phones can be charged from the power in the device. And since it's solar powered there's no need to worry about it running out, presuming there's sun.

The speaker itself weighs a reassuring 530g and sits at 16.3cm by 15.1cm by 4.6cm. Two full range speaker drivers deliver the sound from the Rugged Rukus. This has built in loops that allow it to be hooked onto backpack straps – for out of bag carrying allowing charging on the move.

The Soulra Rugged Rukus is available in black or green for £90.
