Apple plans to release its iWatch with myriad sensors to show users smartwatches can offer something more than smartphones.

According to sources of the Wall Street Journal, the iWatch will come with at least 10 sensors including some to track health and fitness.

Apple has already introduced its HealthKit service on iOS 8 which will complement the sensor laden iWatch when they're both expected to be released this October.

The iWatch may come in multiple sizes, according to the source. But the exact specifications of the iWatch haven't yet been decided ahead of production, apparently.

It's been four years since Apple launched a new product with the iPad. CEO, Tim Cook has promised a new category this year which must refer to the imminent iWatch.

"I expect Apple to launch multiple smartwatches that come with different designs as watches are fashion accessories. One design doesn't fill all," said KGI Securities analyst Ming-chi Kuo.
