Bridgerton - the glossy period drama with a modern twist - graced Netflix in late 2020 and it was excellent. Full of scandal, drama, sex and romance, it was the TV series that had us all hooked on Lady Whistledown's detailing of the events from start to finish.

The first series was inspired by Juila Quinn's book - 'The Duke and I' - which is the first of eight so there is plenty of material to see us binge on Bridgerton for quite a while longer. Season 2 is now available and Netflix has already confirmed a season 3 and 4 so far.

Here is everything you need to know about Bridgerton season 2, including how to watch it, how many episodes there are and what to expect.

Bridgerton season 2 release date: When is it out?

Bridgerton season 2 was released by Netflix on 25 March 2022.

Netflix confirmed in April 2021 that Bridgerton will see a season 3 and 4 so it won't be the last season, with plenty more to come.

How and where to watch Bridgerton season 2

Bridgerton season 2 is available to watch on Netflix only. Unsurprising, given its a Netflix original series - and one of the biggest ones so far - so you'll need to make sure you have your Netflix subscription to get your full dose of the ton.

What is the best streaming device for your TV? Our top recommendation is the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max. Also excellent are the Google Chromecast with Google TV, the Roku Express 4K, the Apple TV 4K and the Amazon Fire TV Stick.

How many episodes are there in Bridgerton season 2?

Bridgerton season 1 had eight episodes and the same applies for season 2.

Each episode is around an hour long, with some a little longer, so there's at least eight hours of more drama and Lady Whistledown reporting.

Bridgerton season 2 plot

As mentioned, the first season of Bridgerton was inspired by Julia Quinn's 'The Duke and I', which focused on the relationship between the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset, and the oldest of the Bridgerton daughter's, Daphne Bridgerton.

The second season is inspired by the second book, 'The Viscount Who Loved Me'. It focuses on eligible bachelor Anthony Bridgerton and a woman called Edwina Sharma. Though of course, nothing is straightforward as that doesn't make for good TV or good reading, so Edwina's sister Kate makes sure Lady Whistledown has something to write about for her Society Papers.

Prior to the season coming out, Julia Quinn told the BBC: "I'm just so excited because I know what's in book two, having written it, and I think there are some scenes that are going to be so incredible and people are going to love."

Penelope Fetherington and Colin Bridgerton, known to some fans as "Polin", play their part in season two as well, though we won't ruin it for you. Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, tweeted a selfie of her and Luke Newton, who plays Colin before season 2 was released. The tweet said "Polin: Year two" with a bee emoji that represents Quinn's books, which excited fans.

Who is cast in Bridgerton season 2?

Given season 2 is mainly focused on Anthony Bridgerton, among others, Jonathan Bailey, who plays him, is back. Most of the season one cast also return, including Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne and Lady Whistledown's voiceover Julie Andrews. Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, and Adjoa Andoh also return.

Unfortunately, we don't see the return of the Duke of Hastings, Rege-Jean Page, for the second season. The actor previously said he wasn't returning to the show, and while he didn't rule out a cameo or guest appearance, skirting around the topic in an interview with GQ, saying "You know I couldn't tell you!", followed by "Isn't there something wonderful about being surprised by what you weren't suspecting?", there's no sign of him.

Charithra Chandran plays Edwina Sharma, Shelley Conn plays Edwina and Kate Sharma's mum, Calam Lynch plays Theo Sharpe and Rupert Young plays Jack. Simone Ashley plays Kate Sharma.
