Activision has released COD: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, as expected.

Earlier this week, a listing for the game was spotted on a European version of the PlayStation Store (priced at €24.99), and the "official" trailer also leaked online. A data miner even found details of the remaster in update code for both the latest Modern Warfare and Warzone.

But now Activision is confirming all the leaks, by announcing the blockbuster video game has returned and is available for purchase now. The new release is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered. You can get it on PlayStation 4 on the PlayStation Network, while other platforms are available for pre-order. You will only get the single-player campaign mode, not multiplayer.

It includes the full campaign with up to 4K resolution and HDR support on console, uncapped framerate, and ultrawide monitor support on PC. Activision also said you can expect improved "texture resolution and detail, revamped animation, remastered audio, and much more".

If you buy the game on PlayStation Network for $19.99, you will also get the following, according to Activision:

"Players who purchase will also receive, free with purchase, Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare including the UDT Ghost Operator skin inspired by the ‘The Only Easy Day…Was Yesterday’ campaign level that featured an action-packed hostage rescue attempt from an oil rig in in the arctic. Alongside the Ghost Operator skin, players will also receive two-weapon blueprints, a weapon charm, new finishing move, voice quip, animated calling card, emblem and two Battle Pass tier skips all for immediate access in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and the recently released Call of Duty: Warzone."

If you pre-order on another platform, you will receive the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Underwater Demo Team Classic Ghost Bundle with the UDT Ghost Operator skin, but you won't get the two Battle Pass tier skips for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Call of Duty: Warzone.

We think this is an ideal opportunity to revisit one of the games that made COD what it is today. And we cannot wait.
