Sony's PlayStation 5 is starting to show its age after over three years on the market, but Sony's console still has a lot of life in it and developers have a slate of must-have titles lined up for 2024 and beyond.

Here's a rundown of upcoming PS5 titles coming out in the next few weeks and beyond, with the latest confirmed release dates, publisher information, new trailers and more. We've ordered them by release date, so the ones at the top will be in your sweaty hands the soonest.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

  • Release date: February 2 2024
  • PS5 Exclusive? No, also on Xbox Series X/S and PC
  • Publisher: Warner Bros.

Developers Rocksteady have a solid reputation for their trio of excellent Arkham games, but their return to the DC universe is under a little more scrutiny. Team-based shooter Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League did not see review builds being sent out before release, which is usually a bad sign. That said, previews have been mostly positive, with special praise going to the storyline.

This is a "live service" game, which means it will be continually updated with new content as well as have Fortnite-esque "battle passes" and Diablo-style loot leveling. Jury's out, but it's the hottest game of February for sure.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

  • Release date: February 29 2024
  • PS5 exclusive? Yes
  • Publisher: Square Enix

Square's next-generation remaster of the groundbreaking Final Fantasy VII surprised us when it came out for the many liberties it took with the classic game's storyline. In the second part of the trilogy, the core party members like Aerith, Tifa, Yuffie, Red and Barrett have been assembled and protagonist Cloud Strife must leave Midgar and travel to the Forgotten Capital.

Fans of the original and newcomers to the series will both find something to love here, with an engaging combat system, gorgeous visuals and one of the most epic stories the Japanese role-playing genre has ever seen.

WWE 2K24

  • Release date: March 8 2024
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Windows
  • Publisher: 2K

It's a rough time for fans of World Wrestling Entertainment, with the business embroiled in some of the most disgusting scandals of all time on the way to WrestleMania. But aficionados of meaty men in tights and trunks smashing into each other feel good about the upcoming WWE 2K24, which features second-generation star Cody Rhodes on the cover and a WrestleMania showcase mode.

Death Stranding 2

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? Yes
  • Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment

One of the weirdest mainstream games we've played in a long, long time is getting a sequel on the PlayStation 5 - Death Stranding 2 is on its way.

The title might change, it would seem, but there are some returning cast members to give us consistency, including Lea Seydoux and Norman Reedus.

Marathon

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on Xbox Series X/S and PC
  • Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment

Bungie's next shooter is a return to its roots in some ways, reviving the long-dead Marathon series and bringing it into the modern world - as an extraction shooter. This genre is all the rage, for good reason.

It'll offer tense PvP combat as you try to get in and out of arenas with loot along the way, and has an aesthetic that looks extremely interesting.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on Xbox Series X/S and PC
  • Publisher: Konami

One of the most storied gaming franchises is coming back with a major remake, bringing the third Metal Gear Solid game to modern consoles with a reimagining and hugely updated visuals.

Exactly how faithful it is remains to be seen, but this will be a tonic to those who have been waiting for more since Metal Gear Solid 5 in the last console generation.

Dragon's Dogma 2

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on Xbox Series X/S and PC
  • Publisher: Capcom

Capcom is answering the prayers of a dedicated community by revisiting the Dragon's Dogma franchise - the first game and its re-release have become cult favourites thanks to unique combat and an off-beat tone.

Expect more of the same in the sequel, including kookier companions and recruits, and bigger battles and monsters than ever before.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on PC
  • Publisher: Sony

Arguably the best Star Wars game of all time is getting a fresh lick of paint, rebuilt from the ground up for the PS5 and presumably bringing the old game's turn-based combat up to modern standards. The story of Darth Revan is one of the greatest gaming's known, so we can't wait to see some gameplay.

Skull and Bones

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on Xbox Series X/S, PC and Stadia
  • Publisher: Ubisoft

Skull and Bones has taken so long to surface that it was repeatedly rumoured to have been cancelled at various stages, but the pirate game is still on the way, and looks like a good time. You'll kit out not just your captain but their ship in the loadout you choose, and take on the high seas with a scurrilous crew to help you.

Silent Hill 2

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on PC
  • Publisher: Konami

An all-time horror great is coming back with a full remake led by Bloober Team - Silent Hill 2 will traumatise a whole new generation of gamers when it lands. Exploring its titular eerie town will be petrifying, but we're looking forward to a quantum leap forward graphically, too.

Marvel's Wolverine

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? Yes
  • Publisher: Sony

Marvel has clearly taken notice of the stellar work that Insomniac has done with Spider-Man, though, as it's been given the keys to another of its biggest names - Wolverine. The X-Man will be slicing his way to the PS5 at some point in the future, although we don't have an idea of when that'll be as yet.

Wonder Woman

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on Xbox and PC
  • Publisher: Warner Bros.

The DC universe is getting into the swing of things as far as gaming adaptations are concerned, and Wonder Woman is now in the lineup, although we don't have either a firm idea of what gameplay will look like or a release date.

It's a fairly safe bet that it'll be some sort of beat-em-up, though, and we're down to see how her famous set of moves could feel to control.

Star Wars Eclipse

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on Xbox and PC
  • Publisher: LucasFilm Games

It's super early in development, but if this moody CGI trailer is anything to go by, the next big game from Quantic Dream could take us to some interesting new locations in the Star Wars universe. It's set during the High Republic, a new part of the timeline that is being explored by other creators, too.

Grand Theft Auto 6

  • Release date: TBC
  • PS5 exclusive? No, also on Xbox Series X and PC
  • Publisher: Rockstar

There are almost too many rumours swirling around Rockstar's likely next game in the Grand Theft Auto franchise to adequately summarise, but suffice to say that it almost has to be on the way.

At the moment speculation is rife that it will see players return to Vice City and the surrounding area, but nothing is confirmed yet. Still, it's almost guaranteed that one of the world's biggest entertainment franchises will make its way to the PS5 before long.
