What is an expensive gaming headset without a proper stand to place it on when not in use? Nothing, that's what, which is why it's imperative to pick up one of the top display stands for your setup. The last thing you want is any more wires sullying your desk space, or an errant headset confusing the complex desk feng shui you're employing, which is why a headset stand is an essential accessory. However, they do vary in design and function, so it's important to know exactly what you need and what will fit in with your other devices.

Razer is making a smart home app for controlling RGB lights from any brand
Razer is at CES 2022 in Las Vegas to announce a slew of new updates and products - including that it plans to launch a smart home app.

However, some folks don't want that gamer aesthetic, which is why we also think the Rooms and New Bee options are good choices. They omit the electronics and lighting in favor of clean lines for a simple but pleasing design. The Rooms model is made of real wood, which has a timeless appearance, while the New Bee will blend seamlessly into the background while also costing next to nothing. Go with whichever one suits your needs because they all function as advertised.

What is the point of a headphone stand?

A headphone stand is the technological equivalent of a coat hanger. What's the point of a coat hanger? To store your coat when you're not using it and keep it out of the way, so it's not draped over the back of a chair or across the arm of a sofa. The same thing applies with a headphone stand. It stores your headphones out of the way, so they are not draped across your desk and so you know where to find them the next time you need them.

Is it worth buying a headphone stand?

Honestly, it depends. I have tried several, but I don't currently own one because my desk simply isn't big enough to fit it. However, if I buy a bigger desk someday, I will almost certainly invest in one as both a desk ornament and also a headphone stand. I personally believe it's worth it if you have the desk space, especially if you get one with USB ports, a headphone jack, or some other additional functionality. That said, this is not essential tech, so you don't need one.

Can you make a homemade headphone stand?

Yep, and with a variety of materials too. It depends on your ability to craft things, but you can make a headphone stand out from virtually anything from wood to metal. Some folks even use foam blocks as headset stands. Additionally, almost any hook-like item that can be bolted to the underside of a desk can hold headphones as well. Nobody says you have to buy one. You can easily make one.

What makes a good headphone stand?

This is not a complicated product category, so the answer is straightforward. If it successfully holds your headphones, then it's a good headphone stand. Everything else like material choices, RGB lighting, USB ports, etc. are preferential choices that add some flair or functionality to the product. I spent many years hanging my headset on my desktop microphone stand. It held up the headphones just fine. Thus, a microphone stand also makes a good headphone stand.
