Samsung has announced a new pair of wireless earphones, the Samsung Galaxy Buds.
They come in a wireless charging case that can be charged through a Qi charging mat or even when placed on the back of a Samsung Galaxy S10+ smartphone. It also has a USB-C port if a wired connection is needed for faster charging.
Essentially replacing the company's Gear Icon X equivalents released last year, the Galaxy Buds come with 58mAh batteries inside. There is also a 252mAh battery in the case that will recharge them a couple of times before needing topped-up itself.
Both battery sizes are smaller than on the Icon X but with a step-up to Bluetooth 5.0 this time around, power management should be more efficient. Indeed, Samsung quotes up to six hours of music playback over Bluetooth.
They are tuned by the Samsung-owned audio brand AKG for a "premium sound experience" and they sport 5.8pi dynamic drivers, just like the Icon X beforehand.
Bixby support is built in, so they can be used to interact with your phone through Sammy's voice assistant. You can also just make a call without even pulling your phone out of your pocket.
As with Samsung's new range of Galaxy S10 phones, Galaxy Active smartwatch and other accessories announced during Galaxy Unpacked, the Galaxy Buds are available to pre-order now in a trio of colours: black, white and yellow. They support Android only and are priced at £139 in the UK.
