Sony Ericsson is to launch its own app store for Sony Ericsson users the company has announced.

Although not wanting to be pulled on specific details until the company makes the official announcement at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco at the beginning of June, the Swedish company confirmed the news to journalists at the launch of three new handsets in London on Thursday.

Aping Apple's App Store, Nokia's Ovi store, Android's Marketplace and RIM's BlackBerry App World, Sony Ericsson will be the latest handset manufacturer to offer its users the chance to personalise their handsets with new applications like games without the need to connect to a PC.

The company hasn't confirmed whether or not the applications will be for its Symbian handsets or its proprietary UI phones, however the choice of launch conference means Sony Ericsson fans should expect it to be available on all handsets via a Java based interface.

The news means that only Samsung and LG are left without an App store offering for its users.

We will keep you posted.
