If you're currently wielding any one of the Sony Ericsson Xperia range - that's the Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro - then it looks like your handset has hit a bit of a dead end in terms of Android OS updates.

Sony Ericsson has confirmed to Pocket-lint that none of the phones will be moving on from Android 2.1 Eclair to Froyo.

We reported on the possibility of an update for the X10 mini in late 2010, and this news certainly looks like the nail in the coffin.

However, if you're a Sony Ericsson fan, who's perhaps been eyeing up future mobile phone fare from the manufacturer you need not fear, as the company says that the issue, related to Timescape and Mediascape modifications in the OS, shouldn't affect future devices.

Sony Ericsson also assures that faster OS updates will be a priority in 2011.

The Sony Ericsson Arc will be sporting Android 2.3 when it launches some time in the UK before March. Sony Ericsson has confirmed to us that currently it hasn't got any operator announcements at the moment with those details still being fleshed out.
