Samsung CEO JK Shin has revealed that the Galaxy S4 Android phone is performing even better worldwide than its predecessor, the Galaxy S3. He also expects it to go past the 10 million sales target next week, just over three weeks since it first hit stores.

"We are confident that we will pass more than 10 million sales of the S4 next week," he said during an industry forum in Seoul, South Korea. "It is selling much faster than the previous model, S3."

If that turns out to be an accurate prediction, the new handset will become Samsung's fastest-selling phone in its history.

"Samsung spent 50 days to pass the 10 million sales mark for the S3. The S4 will be Samsung's first '10 million seller' device less than a month after its official debut," said Shin.

Some have doubted whether the Samsung Galaxy S4 is much of an improvement over the year-old S3. It seems that consumers see the benefits in the new features, rather than the hardware.
