Samsung has announced that it will be holding a launch event in London on 27 October, but for the Galaxy Note not the Nexus Prime, just as Pocket-lint exclusively revealed last week.

There were some that speculated that the press conference at the end of this month would be the rejigged unveiling of the Samsung Nexus Prime handset (aka Samsung Galaxy Prime), which was postponed from its CTIA slot out of respect to the passing away of Apple's ex-CEO Steve Jobs. However, a source told us that, while there was to be an event on the 27, it would be for the Note. And they were spot on.

As yet, neither Samsung nor Google have announced a new date to officially launch the Ice Cream Sandwich-packed handset, and we have also learnt from our sources that although 19 October is also being touted by other sites, no decision has been made or confirmed.

Additionally, 19 October is the date Apple will hold a memorial service for Steve Jobs, so it is unlikely that, considering the original cancellation of the Samsung Unpacked event was to respect his memory, either company would overturn that position now.

We will bring you further news of a more definite launch date for the much-awaited phone soon.
