Back at the beginning of October Pocket-lint got official word from the DSG Group (the chaps who own Dixons, Currys and PC World) regarding the RRP for the Samsung Galaxy Tab - £599.99 for a contract-free option.

But now, The Carphone Warehouse has gone live with its initial price plans for the 7-incher, and have undercut that RRP by £70.

For £529.99 it is taking pre-orders for a SIM-free SamTab, and if you take out a £10 a month (1GB allowance, no minutes and no texts though) monthly rolling contract with Talk Mobile you can save yourself a further £30.

Now, at less than £530 it's still not the aggressively priced tablet that we were hoping for, but it does put it on a par with the 16GB Apple iPad 3G version at least (and this is a 16GB SamTab we're talking about here).

If you fancy taking The Carphone Warehouse up on its offer, you can pre-order now, ahead of the 1 November launch.
