(Pocket-lint) - OnePlus has brought its latest custom colour to the market, and this one is something rather special. It's called Thunder Purple and it's available to buy now.

From the front, it looks exactly the same as the two black variants of the latest high-powered flagship killer, but turn to the edges and the back and you'll see something rather different.

The back gradients from black to purple and like the Midnight Black finish, the rear is covered in a frosted glass. But there's more to it than that, because of the way the finish has been applied, it darkens and lightens depending on the angle you're looking at it and where the light hits it. There's also that subtle S-curve that appears in it thanks to the micro-perferations in the layer beneath the glass.

What that means to you is that depending on how you hold it, the way you see the colour can be completely different every time. Some times it looks dark, stormy and deep, other times it's a light almost lilac colour. What's more, this gentle gradient is matched on the metal edges, blending seamlessly from the same black colour as the Midnight Black into the light purple at the bottom.

OnePlus says it "might just be our most beautiful design yet", and we won't argue with that. Although, that glossy candy apple red version of the OnePlus 6 might disagree. Like Thunder Purple, that was something to behold in person.

Other than that, everything is the same as the black versions. That means the same dual camera system on the back, Snapdragon 845 processor inside, 3,700mAh battery and the in-display fingerprint sensor. One thing that is worth noting is that it's not available in the lowest 6GB/128GB RAM/storage combination.

It's available to buy now and comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, at the same price as the Midnight Black and Mirror Black models with the same storage/RAM configuration. That's to say, it costs £529 over at OnePlus.com.
