Following Sony Ericsson's announcement of a portable speaker set for its Walkman range, Nokia has followed suit with the launch of the Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W, a small box that connects music on your mobile device with your home stereo.

The Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W is a device that streams music between compatible mobile devices, home stereos, PCs and wireless headsets.

Available sometime in the second quarter of 2006, the Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W allows consumers to listen to music stored in their compatible mobile devices wirelessly with their home stereos.

The Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W connects easily to your home stereo via industry standard RCA cables and with a dedicated switch to change the usage mode, set-up promises to be simple.

Nokia Wireless Audio Gateway AD-42W is compatible with devices that have the Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution (A2DP) -profile.

Nokia currently offers the A2DP -profile with the Nokia 8800/8801 mobile phones, Nokia Wireless Stereo Headsets HS-12W and Nokia Bluetooth Headset BH-601 as well as the Nokia Wireless Audio Adapter AD-47W.

Nokia will be launching several devices supporting A2DP -profile later this year.
