Motorola is to expand into a new product area with the introduction of a new "Mobile TV" device at CES 2008.
The Motorola Mobile TV DH01 device is DVB-H (the EU-backed mobile TV standard) compatible and is a lightweight pocket-sized personal media player that will let users watch live TV anywhere as well as offer on-demand clips and saved programs.
"Mobile TV is expected to grow significantly in 2008 and beyond and Motorola is in a unique position to mobilize the TV experience to deliver broadcast and personalized content wherever and whenever consumers want", said Navin Mehta, vice president of Mobile TV and Applications Services for Motorola.
"The Motorola Mobile TV DH01 is the ultimate personal media player - it allows consumers to enjoy their viewing experience at their convenience. In other words the entertainment experience is changing from 'broadcast time' to 'my time'."
Motorola's Mobile TV DH01 is the size of a paperback, has a 4.3-inch WQVGA widescreen that offers 16 million colours, plays video at 25fps, can buffer live TV for 5 minutes, has an SD card slot for recorded programs and boasts a battery life of 4 hours.
It will be showcased at CES, the Las Vegas tech show that Pocket-lint will be attending, so we will bring you more info on this new product from the show floor.
