The wood-backed Moto X is coming soon, if a not-so-subtle hint from Motorola is to be believed.

Motorola recently tweeted an outline of the Moto X. Specifically, it's a cut-along-the-line outline on top of a wooden panel. The company added the following message to the tweeted image: "Put this DIY project on hold. Trust us."

So, what does all this mean? Motorola is teasing us. The company does't want you to lose patience and start crafting your own wooden Moto X (if you even could), because - presumably - you'll be able to get your hands on one imminently.

Motorola released the Moto X in the US last summer, when it also gave a preview of a wood-backed version. Notable leakster @evleaks later claimed in September that Motorola would release four wooden covers for the Moto X at $50 a pop. He said we could expect to see them this winter.

It's now winter. And we have no wooden Moto X. But maybe that's about to change, at least according to Motorola's latest tweet. When and if the wooden version does launch, it'll likely be available through Moto Maker in the US.
