Microsoft has now officially confirmed what Pocket-lint told you last month, that it will be launching its new mobile phone operating system, Windows Phone 7, on Monday 11 October in New York city.
The confirmation, posted on Microsoft's own site, gave details of the New York event and established that it will be held at the NYC Microsoft Technology Center.
Starting at 3pm EST and going on for an hour - Microsoft says it will detail Windows Phone 7 with Microsoft products and solutions before giving those who attend a chance to talk to "T-Mobile reps" who will be present for device showing and its service, whilst also offering discussion.
The reference to "T-Mobile" is a first, with many people believing AT&T would be an exclusive launch partner even though Microsoft has always said that it wants to work with as many people as possible.
Guests to the event will also be able to see Windows Phone 7 applications in action and enjoy "light snacks, beer and wine", - ooh, exciting.
Microsoft has confirmed to Pocket-lint that a similar event is being held in the UK, which judging by the US start time will be around 8pm.
Update: Pocket-lint will be covering all the action as it happens - we've had our invite to the London event and will be reporting live from it.
