A new version of Windows Mobile is due to be available, and in contrast to the Windows Phone 7 Series just announced for launch towards the end of the year, this version is aimed at emerging markets.

Bsquare, a software solutions provider and the global distributor for Windows Phone, has announced it will offer the new Windows Phone 6 Starter Edition SKU, described as "software designed to help OEMs reach new and emerging markets with their consumer mobile handsets".

Bsquare customers include both handset manufacturers developing Windows Phones for consumers and rugged device manufacturers shipping data collection terminals to businesses and other OEMs.

Bsquare says it will offer two versions of the Windows Phone 6 Starter Edition SKU - multi-language versions with and without Microsoft Office Mobile.
