After months of drip feeding, the LG BL40, or "New Chocolate" as it's being called, finally went official today and will be available on Orange and the Carphone Warehouse from this month.

For those who haven't already pieced the information together, the handset features a 4-inch, 21:9, 345 x 800 WVGA capacitive touchscreen capable of displaying 16 million colours and is so wide that there's a split screen dual functionality, which means you can have two applications on the go and in front of your eyes at once.

It has a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and Scheider-Kruznach glassware and, joy of joys, both a micro USB port and a 3.5mm jack for all your standardised connection needs. The sleek handset measures 128 x 51 x 10.9mm, weighs 129g and is quite ready to support all your multimedia needs with a microSD card slot next to the battery which is good for up to 32GB, presuming Sandisk et al ever get round to it.
