LG Optimus G has escaped from the Far East and is heading to the US, AT&T and Sprint have confirmed.

The new phone, touted as a possible next Nexus device, will be available in the US later this year according to the carriers (neither has said when), bringing the hopes of a UK release one step closer.

The LG Optimus G is the company's latest flagship smartphone and its answer to the Samsung Galaxy S3.

The core specs of the phone include a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus display, a Qualcomm 1.5 GHz Quad-Core CPU Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage memory (expandable up to 80GB with a micro SD card) and a 2100 mAh Li-Polymer battery to keep you going longer than 10 minutes. It will, of course, offer 4G connectivity.

In a rather confusing move, however, the camera will be different depending on which network you sign up for.

On Sprint the LG Optimus G will come with a 13-megapixel camera on the back of the phone, but the AT&T version will sport only an 8-megapixel camera.
