EE and Vodafone have confirmed they will be stocking Huawei's foldable 5G phone for the UK when it launches later this year.

Newly announced, the Mate X doesn't have any kind of UK price as yet - we do know its Euro pricing though; it will cost €2299 with 8GB RAM and 512GB storage.

The Mate X combines 5G, foldable screen and a 4,500mAh battery.

Huawei says the Mate X release date "from the middle of 2019" depending on the "network deployment status of operators".

We believe that EE will probably be the first 5G network live in the UK around the middle of the year. Again, there's no confirmed date for that. Vodafone simply says the Mate X is "coming soon".

We do know that EE is switching on 5G areas in 16 UK cities during 2019. The first launch cities will be the UK’s four capital cities – London, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Belfast – and Birmingham and Manchester.

This will cover the busiest parts of cities, including London’s Hyde Park, Manchester Airport, Edinburgh Waverley train station, Belfast City Airport, The Welsh Assembly and Birmingham’s Bullring shopping Centre.

Vodafone will start 5G services in cities including Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool and London before the end of 2019. It also plans to launch 5G in the Scottish Highlands, Cornwall and the Lake District. - PAY MONTHLY PHONES The Samsung Galaxy S10+ is now available on EE who have been awarded the UK’s best network for the fifth year running. RootMetrics tested the four UK networks and EE was faster and more reliable than all of them, with better data performance. Their network has come a long way since they launched in 2012. Back then they had 11 UK cities covered by 4G. Today they cover most of the UK’s land mass, thanks to 19,000 state-of-the-art 4G sites. They’ve got faster, too – from 50Mbps to a maximum speed of 400Mbps. And they’re soon to experience even greater possibilities with the launch of 5G.
