Huawei’s skinny Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone, the Ascend P1, is now available on Vodafone for free on pay monthly contracts starting at £26 a month.

Packing a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and 8-megapixel camera, Huawei is once again providing a smartphone experience without customers having to pay through the nose.

Okay so it may not run the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but Ice Cream Sandwich is the next best thing and Huawei has impressively managed to keep the build quality premium.

When it was first announced, back at CES in January 2012, the Huawei Ascend P1 laid claim to being the world’s thinnest smartphone. Other handsets have now taken that accolade, but at only 7.69mm its waistline remains impressively svelte.

The Huawei Ascend P1 can be purchased now from Vodafone’s online shop for free on a £26 a month two-year contract, or for £99 on a £20.50 24-month contract.
