The developer edition of the HTC One brought 64GB of storage and an unlocked bootloader for a tasty $649.99 (£426). Now, the folks at HTC have a new offering for those who still want the no-contract experience, for cheaper.

The unlocked version of the HTC One is now available on the phone manufacturer's online store for $574.99. With your purchase, you'll be getting a 32GB version of the smartphone in silver (black hasn't popped up yet) and no contract whatsoever.

Unlike the developer edition, HTC offers no word of the bootloader being unlocked on the 32GB model, so it's probably safe to say it's just unlocked to any network you have a SIM card for.

Specs remain the same as the carrier versions of the HTC One. You'll find yourself with 4.7-inch 1080p display, 1.7Ghz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, HTC's infamous 4-megapixel "UltraPixel" rear-camera, and Android 4.1.2 with Sense 5.

In our review of the HTC One we gave it high marks. The choice of a carrier-free version may have sweetened the deal even further.
