It's not been a great day for Android fans.

Firstly, a rival OS, Windows Phone 7 has stolen a bit of the mobile platform limelight with its official launch, and now reports are suggesting that the launches of two massive Android handsets, HTC's Desire HD and Desire 7 are facing delays in Europe.

The delays are the result of the handsets not yet passing Google's Type Approval testing, which was also an issue before the original Desire's release.

We were expecting to see the Desire Z launching on 11 October, with 14 October mentioned as a release date for the Desire HD (with Vodafone at least).

The reports circulating suggest that the date is now likely to be "mid-late October".
