Google has given in to pressure from owners of its Nexus One device and launched a telephone support line for the device. Previously, the company had directed people to either T-Mobile (the US network) or HTC (which manufactures the device).

Now, if you have issues, you can talk to a real live Googler. It's a US number - 888-48-NEXUS, which is 888-48-63987 when you ignore that strange letters-to-numbers thing that the US always does. It's open from 7am to 10pm EST, which is midday to 3am GMT. From Britain, you might want to use Skype or something to phone, so that you don't get charged vast amounts for the international call.

Google says: "Our approach with our new consumer channel is to learn fast and continue to improve, and we have, therefore, also been developing our capabilities to provide a number from Google for live phone support for the Nexus One. Live phone support from Google, combined with an optimized on-line support experience, enables a superior Nexus One customer experience".

Google has also reduced the Early Termination Fee (which applies when you break out of your contract early) to $150, down from $350. However, T-Mobile will add an extra $200 to that. We're yet to hear the details of UK contracts for the handset, though we do know that it'll be offered by Vodafone.
