UK network EE has been extremely busy of late. Not only has it launched the nation's first 4G mobile data service and announced the 17 new cities that will be 4G-enabled in 2013, but it has also added the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE to its compatible device line-up.

It's also revealed some of the artwork created by the renowned digital artist Brendan Dawes, who was commissioned to translate the digital landscapes of each of the 11 launch cities into visual form for individual pieces.

Dawes worked closely with the data analysis team at University College London, capturing social media conversations and trends posted in a three day period from 29 to 31 October.

"Each chosen topic and the hundreds of thousands of digital conversations associated with them are represented by a specific colour coded keyword," says EE. "From the keywords at the bottom of the artwork a series of lines flare out to form a myriad of coloured interlinked circles. The thickness of the lines and the size and brightness of the circles represent the popularity of each topic and the frequency at which people were speaking about them."

Topics chosen to represent Britain include X-Factor, Skyfall, Weather, Strictly Come Dancing, Happiness, MPs and, of course, 4G.

The artworks will be shown for free around the UK, with the one based on Liverpool currently being shown at FACT, the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology.

The Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE edition is now available on the EE network for £99.99 on a 24-month contract at £35.99 a month for 8GB of data. A 5GB data plan is £30.99 a month, with the tablet costing £199.99. And a 3GB deal will cost £25.99 a month, £249.99 for the device.

EE has also announced that the Nexus 7 is now available on a price plan that couples it with a Huawei E589 Mobile WiFi device. The 24-month plans are identical in monthly prices to the Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE, but the Nexus 7 and 4G hotspot device cost £29.99 on 8GB and 5GB plans, £49.99 for 3GB of data.
