Blackberry may still be battling NTP in America over who owns what patent, but that hasn't stopped the company behind the device launching the latest version of the email handheld.

The BlackBerry 8700g is the latest model to be added to the portfolio of award-winning devices. It will combine all the same features of the traditional BlackBerry devices including email on the go, SMS, easy typing through its QWERTY keyboard, as well as a full phone, but with an improved sleeker design and a bigger colour screen.

The 65k QVGA (320x240) LCD screen also uses light detection similar to the Apple PowerBook range to adjust the brightness automatically to provide the best view in various settings.

According to Research in Motion, the consoles manufacturers, the BlackBerry 8700g was completely re-engineered to boost performance and features an Intel processor as well as 64MB flash memory and 16MB SRAM. The device also features Bluetooth.

The recommended retail price of the BlackBerry 8700g from T-Mobile UK is £189.99. From February the device will be available for just £79.99 with an 18 month contract (Relax 200), which includes 12 months half price line rental.
