BlackBerry was almost certain to give its Z10 touchscreen smartphone the Porsche upgrade after rumours surfaced a few months back. Now a date has been floated too, for 21 November.

The BlackBerry Porsche P'9982 will be the successor to the keyboard toting P'9981. This model, which could sell for $2,000 (£1,250), should be the Z10 inside with BB10 OS and Porsche styling on the outside. Specs are all hearsay at the moment but if it sticks to the Z10 lead you can expect a 4.2-inch display, 1.5GHz dual-core with 2GB of RAM, microSD up to 64GB and 4G LTE.

The handset release date leaked at an event held in Dubai with F1 driver Lewis Hamilton. We'll have to wait and see if the leather-backed, aluminium frame handset appears soon. How many are made for the few that can afford them is another matter entirely.
