Asus has finally announced the UK release date and price for its dedicated gaming smartphone, the Asus ROG (Republic of Gamers) Phone. And pre-orders are now being accepted.

The phone will start to ship in the UK from 14 December and if you pre-order it from Asus' own website, you currently get £100 off the usual price of £799.99.

That means those who pre-order it from Asus directly will get the new handset for £699.99.

The Asus ROG Phone is supercharged for gaming, coming with a ROD GameCool 3D Vapor-chamber cooling system to ensure the CPU and GPU do not overheat when crunching through some of the more graphically intensive titles.

It is an Android device, with octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor overclocked to 2.96GHz.

There is 8GB of LDDR4X RAM and 128GB of storage. While the 4,000mAh battery ensures that you have plenty of charge to play PUBG.

The screen uses a 6-inch AMOLED display (2160 x 1080), capable of 90Hz and a 1ms response time.

An 8-megapixel camera is on the front, while the rear sports two lenses: 12-megapixel and 8-megapixel wide-angle.
