Asus is bringing its Padfone mini to the UK. The phone come tablet was launched in Taiwan in December and the manufacturer plans to release it in further territories over the coming months.

It comprises two parts, a 4-inch Android smartphone and a 7-inch tablet housing that you slot the phone into to transform it into a 1280 x 800 device.

It is powered by a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 processor, has 8GB of internal storage (expandable by an extra 64GB through microSD), and an 8-megapixel camera on the rear. A 2-megapixel camera is situated on the front, and it supports dual SIMs should you want to keep work and personal communication separate.

Asus's ZenUI is layered on top of Android and the entire device weighs 376g when combined. The phone's display is 800 x 480 when not attached.

Battery life is quoted at a combined total of 3270mAh, but we're not sure what the phone's battery capacity is on its own. The tablet dock charges the phone when they are coupled.

UK price and release details will be announced in due course.
