Apple has moved to squash users who jailbreak their handsets by changing the way the iPhone is coded in the first place.

According to reports on the Web, Apple is supposedly shipping new iPhone 3GS phones with a new "bootrom" that is resistant to the 24kpwn exploit used by the Dev-Team and others to jailbreak the iPhone.

MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev-Team has confirmed that the loss of the 24kpwn exploit would mean a normal jailbreak would be impossible for the time being.

Those looking to jailbreak their handset allowing them to install unapproved Apple apps on their iPhone are, says MuscleNerd, recommended to look for "refurbished iPhone 3GS units" for the time being.
