According to new figures out this week, Britain's are hooked on text voting when it comes to having their say in reality TV and radio shows.
A recent survey has found that over a fifth of all mobile phone users in the UK voted in television or radio poll in January this year.
The 8.9 million people are just a fraction of the 83.6% who sent a text message in that month.
"The prevalence of reality television shows such as I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here, Big Brother and Pop Idol in the UK is clearly changing mobile phone behaviour", said Paul Goode a senior analyst from M:Metrics, the company behind the survey.
The survey also found that games downloads are still struggling to take off with the mobile population. Only 4% of mobile phone users downloaded a game compared to 11.6% who used their phone to access news and information.
