Phones 4u has contacted Pocket-lint to distance itself from reports circulating which suggest that the iPhone 5 is to be launched on 21 November.

The reports quote a, "customer sales representative at the St Albans branch of Phones 4u" who apparently leaked the release date.

However, a Phones 4u spokesperson told us:

"With regards to the Phones 4u statement about the release date of the iPhone 5, the Phones 4u team genuinely don’t know where this suggested date has come from and was news to them when they were reading the story!

"No official date has been issued as of yet and we will be sure to let you know when we have such information."

So there you have it. Phones 4u doesn't know anything about it, and unless the chap from St Albans has some serious Cupertino inside knowledge then it looks as if the 21 November date may be nothing more than another iPhone 5 debunked rumour for the pile.

Fanboys, don't be too disappointed - there's still other Apple rumours (which may or may not be true) to get excited about. Check out Secret Apple launch planned for 19 May?
