LG featured in Paul Otellini's Intel CES keynote, with the world's first demo of the next-gen LG GW990 handset.

Based on the Intel Moorestown platform and running the Linux-based Moblin 2.1 operating system, the GW990 is a MID - a mobile internet device - but unlike other such devices that have been demoed in the past, this one is headed to market.

"The device is expected to come to market in the second half of 2010", says LG in a statement.

The GW990 boasts a 4.8-inch, 1024 x 480 resolution, full touchscreen display with a 2.13:1 aspect ratio and will support LTE 4G tech.

LG describes it as an "innovative mobile internet device that combines the high performance and rich internet capabilities of a PC with the mobility of a smartphone".
