(Pocket-lint) - Although the OnePlus 8 series is now with us, this feature compares last year's premium OnePlus handsets - the OnePlus 7T Pro and previous OnePlus 7 Pro.

We've also compared the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7T in a separate feature, as well as the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7, in case you're interested.

What's the same between the OnePlus 7T Pro and 7 Pro?

  • Design
  • Display
  • Rear camera
  • Front camera
  • Software

Unlike the OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7, the OnePlus 7T Pro and OnePlus 7 Pro share a number of similarities, including their design. They are identical in footprint and weight too.

The OnePlus 7T changed things up in terms of the rear, but the OnePlus 7T Pro looks identical to the 7 Pro with a vertical camera setup on the rear, a full uninterrupted screen, and a pop up front camera. The display is the same size and resolution too and both the 7 Pro and 7T Pro have a 90Hz refresh rate.

The triple camera on the rear also offers the same specifications as the OnePlus 7 Pro, and the front camera and software experience is pretty much identical too.

What's different between the OnePlus 7T Pro and 7 Pro?

Though many things remain the same between the OnePlus 7T Pro and 7 Pro, there area few differences, as you would expect.

Colour options

  • OnePlus 7T Pro: Haze Blue
  • One Plus 7 Pro: Nebula Blue, Mirror Gray, Almond

The OnePlus 7T Pro comes in a Haze Blue colour option only. The OnePlus 7 Pro meanwhile, comes in Mirror Gray, Nebula Blue and Almond colour options.

  • OnePlus 7T Pro: Qualcomm SD855+, 8GB RAM
  • OnePlus 7 Pro: Qualcomm SD855, 6/8/12GB RAM

The OnePlus 7T Pro comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, coupled with 8GB of RAM. It has 256GB of internal storage.

The OnePlus 7 Pro comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, with a choice of 6GB, 8GB and 12GB of RAM. It is available with 128GB or 256GB of storage.

Battery capacity

  • OnePlus 7T Pro: 4085mAh, Warp Charge 30T Fast Charging
  • OnePlus 7 Pro: 4000mAh, Warp Charge 30 Fast Charging

The OnePlus 7T Pro increases its battery capacity compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro, but not by much. The 7T Pro has a 4085mAh capacity under its hood, which is a 85mAh increase on the 7 Pro.

The 7T Pro offers Warp Charge 30T Fast Charging though, which is said to be 23 per cent faster than the OnePlus 7 Pro.

The OnePlus 7T Pro is very similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro, offering only a couple of upgrades. We get a processor update and a slight battery increase, as well as a new colour option.

Aside from that, there are a couple of new features on the OnePlus 7T Pro, such as super slow motion at 960fps and a new macro mode, as well as a new matte glass finish, but that's pretty much it.

If you're considering an upgrade from the OnePlus 7 Pro, we'd say it's probably not with it this time round, but for those looking to upgrade from an older OnePlus device, the 7T Pro is a great device.
