Pocket-lint last saw Hasbro's Multi Troop Transport Droid Carrier at the London Toy Fair in February, but that was behind closed doors and photography was strictly forbidden. Now the company has allowed us to get our mitts on it, and we have to say we're mightily impressed.

Admittedly, it may be from one of our least favourite chapters in the franchise, but we can see that this behemoth of a Star Wars playset will be to today's generation of kids what the giant AT-AT Walkers were to us back in the 1980s.

It's not cheap, at £150, but with that, not only do you get a massive transport vehicle, with buttons to press, sound effects and a multitude of compartments to put characters inside, but you also get 20 Trade Federation droids.

A young Obi Wan Kenobi figure is thrown in and the front of the carrier opens to reveal a mobile troop deployment rack. There are missiles to fire at the press of a button and pivoting cannons. In short, it's the best and biggest Star Wars toy out there and we want one. Then we could remake history and squash Jar Jar Binks once and for all.

In addition to the MTT Droid Carrier, Hasbro also had several of its Star Wars Movie Heroes figures range on show during its Christmas in July event, and while some models have been around since earlier this year, we hadn't managed to have a play with one yet.

Where they differ from the traditional figures of our own childhoods is that, although they are the same size and shape, those that carry lightsabers are powered. Press a button on their midriff and the light saber lights up.

We can't overestimate how much geek love we were feeling when we first pressed Darth Vader's stomach.

You can try one out for yourself at around £6 a figure.

Oh, to be 8 or 9 again.
