Bop-It is back and this time with a new feature for the new year, says Hasbro at this year’s Toy Fair in London, and Pocket-lint were on hand to have a go.

In, is a new “shake” feature, out is the need to “shout” at the device, and the gadget also gets a new name as well: Bop-It XT.

“Bop-It! XT is Bop-It! to the max with six commands including Bop it, Spin it, Flick it, Pull it, and Twist it  and the new Shake it,” says Hasbro in what essentially is a interactive suped up Simon Says, with the game asking you to randomly complete the tasks.

The game features play modes including Single Player, Pass It, and Party, and four levels of play for ranging abilities.

A quick go (we were useless by the way) and Bop-It! XT is basically the same as before, but now with shaking function that you can, if it annoys, turn off. It's another element to challenge and will appeal to those going for the ultimate Bop-It experience, however for most you'll not notice the difference over previous years.

Parents will be happy to hear that a headphone jack is also included in the Bop-It! XT unit to allow kids to fine tune their skills quietly, or hook up to speakers for group play - horror, the very thought.

The downside is that you or your kids are going to have to wait until Autumn to get their hands on the new game.
