The uber boys toy now has it’s own dedicated event - Slot Rally GB.

Supported by Toyota and the National Slots car Collectors Club (NSCC), the rally will run - just like a real one - over multiple stages, on different surfaces and under strict time conditions.

Taking place at Toyota GB’s HQ in Epsom, Surrey, on the Weekend of September 23rd and 24th, Slot Rally GB is expected to draw around 200 competing cars representing modern, historic and classic rally periods.

Scalextric, commonly known as slots car outside the UK, still has a massive following. Believe it or not, today’s 1/32 scale models are just like their full-size counterparts, with four-wheel drive, suspension and tuned-up motors.

The challenge remains the same as ever: how fast can you go without coming off the track? Up to 100 contestants each day will compete on approximately 20 special slot rally stages.

Many of the stages will be landscaped with scenery, loose surfaces and even a water splash.

The event will be open from 11.00am to 5.00pm on both days. Admission is £4 for adults and £1 for the under-16s; children under 12 get in for free if accompanied by an adult.

Entry in the Slot Rally GB costs £6 per car.
