Daredevil will return to our TV screens in spring 2024 with Disney+ and Marvel Studios to make a new season.

Called Daredevil: Born Again, it will once again pit the man without fear against Kingpin in a show more closely tied into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Here's everything we know about it so far.

Daredevil: Born Again release window

Announced during San Diego Comic-Con 2022, the show is in a very early stage of production, with script writers only just having been employed by Marvel Studios and Disney.

That's why Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, announced that it won't be available on Disney+ until spring 2024.

How many episodes will Daredevil: Born Again have?

Kevin Feige announced during Comic-Con 2022 that there will be 18 episodes in Daredevil: Born Again. He didn't reveal the running time of each episode, however.

That's more than each of the legacy Daredevil seasons (in what Disney calls The Defenders Saga). There were 13 episodes each in seasons 1-3.

What we know so far about Daredevil: Born Again

We don't lnow a whole lot about Daredevil: Born Again yet.

Ahead of the official announcement, Variety reported that Matt Corman and Chris Ord were hired to pen the script and executive produce. The duo have worked on other projects together before, including Covert Affaitrs for the USA Network.

Previous speculation suggested that Disney will tone down the mature nature of the original shows, to bring the new series more in line with its other MCU TV shows, such as Hawkeye and Moon Knight. However, the official title of the show suggests that some darker themes will remain. Daredevil: Born Again is also the name of one of the character's best (and bleakest) storylines in the comic books, as written by Frank Miller (The Dark Knight Returns, Sin City) and drawn by David Mazzucchelli in 1986.

What we do know for sure is that Charlie Cox will be back as the lead. He also cameoed as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, so that was always expected.

Another actor to reprise his role from the original Daredevil series is Vincent D'Onofrio, who first returned as Wilson Fisk / Kingpin in Hawkeye. Considering he was thought to be shot during his encounter with Echo in that show, we'll finally find out what actually happened.

Certainly Echo herself survived it, considering that character is also getting a spin-off show on Disney+.

What to watch before Daredevil: Born Again and how to catch up

Warning, spoilers ahead!

If you've not yet watched the original three season run of Daredevil on Netflix, you should start to catch up now. And, to make it easier, it's all been migrated to Disney+.

As have the tie-in shows, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, iron Fist, The Defenders and The Punisher. They each have their merits and slightly intertwining plots (The Defenders is actual a superteam featuring all of the Hells Kitchen heroes), although you must take note that they are much more mature in comparison than most Marvel movies and TV series. Daredevil, Iron Fist and The Punisher are rated as 18+, for example.

We also suggest you check out Hawkeye, which is similarly set in New York City and features Kingpin - Daredevil's nemesis.

And Spider-Man: No Way Home is essential viewing too, with Matt Murdock appearing as Peter Parker's attorney in a brief cameo.
