What was announced during the Square Enix E3 2021 Summer Showcase?

A number of new games and updates to existing ones were announced. Here are our highlights:

Marvel's Guardian's of the Galaxy

Perhaps the biggest surprise was an all-new game from Eidos-Montreal. It's the second from the Marvel partnership and is a single-player, third-person action adventure with squad-based battles.

You can find out more about it here: Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy game: Release date, trailers, formats, and everything you need to know.

Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster

Square Enix is in the process of remastering the first six Final Fantasy games for iOS, Android and PC. Each of the 2D pixels is being reworked for modern resolutions.

Legend of Mana

The opening cinematic for the PS4 and PC remaster was shown (as above). You won't have long to play it, as it's out on 24 June.

Marvel's Avengers - Black Panther: War for Wakanda

Black Panther comes to Marvel's Avengers this August.

Hitman Sniper: The Shadows

Agent 47 is missing, so Agent 426 has to take the reins in this latest Hitman Sniper outing for iOS and Android.

Life is Strange: True Colors

We got to see much more on the forthcoming Life is Strange sequel, True Colors. The game is releasing on 10 September.

Babylon's Fall

The studio behind Nier:Automata, PlatinumGames, is co-developing a new IP with Square Enix. Babylon's Fall will be a co-op combat title for PlayStation and PC.

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin

Stranger of Paradise is being developed by Team Ninja (Nioh) and will be very different to the usual Final Fantasy JRPG fare. Expect a lot more action, for starters.

This year's E3 is all-digital and is running until 15 June. Pocket-lint plans to cover E3 2021, so stay tuned to our games hub.
