The more keen-eyed Samsung fans might have spotted that neither the 10.1 nor the 7-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 Android tablets was released in March, as previously promised by the company. We were officially told that they would be out last month and then rolled-out globally.

However, the on-sale dates for both devices have been postponed until the end of this month, with Samsung now saying they will start to ship at the end of April.

The reason has been put down to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Both tablets are to have the updated operating system pre-installed on day one but, according to a company spokesperson, Samsung and Google need more time to work on the software to suit the tablets - a month's-worth of extra time, it seems.

Samsung has already started to roll out ICS to its Galaxy S II smartphones, with many UK owners being able to update their handsets through Kies, but Galaxy Note users also face a minor delay.

Pocket-lint caught up with the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7.0) at the manufacturer's European Forum in February and said, "...it feels very comfortable in the hand and has more in common with it's 10.1 and 8.9 cousins than it does with its predecessor thanks to the curved edges and shiny greyish back".
