Let us guess, you like your Sony Bloggie or Flip pocket camcorder but you are worried that you'll break it as soon as you get it out of your pocket. Those things are good, but they aren't very tough.

In steps the Sony Bloggie Sport, announced at CES in Las Vegas where Pocket-lint was on hand to have a play at the Sony stand.

A much more rugged version of the handheld video snapper, it can sit in up to 5 metres of water for an hour, if you are so inclined, and the camera's 2.7-inch touchscreen will also function under water.

The clumsier camcorder users among you will also be relieved to know that you can drop the camera from up to 1.5m and, although we weren't able to do that as it was tethered to the stand, we were able to convince Sony to let us bash it against the stand and our bashing had little effect.

Users will be able to store around 2 hours of HD footage on the device's internal 4GB of memory and as with previous Bloggie devices the Sport will come with a hidden flip-out USB arm for connection to a computer. It will come with a built-in rechargeable battery and HDMI output for connecting to a TV to share your movies.

The bounce friendly Sony Boggie Sport also features all the usual bells and whistles you've come to expect from Sony for its Bloggie range and in our brief play we had no problems getting to grips with the incredibly easy to use camcorder.

The new pocket camcorder will ship in blue, black and red and cost around £180 when it launches in February.
